Delightfully crisp and sweet, these Baked Apple Pie Rice Paper Rolls combine tender, cinnamon-spiced apples wrapped in delicate rice paper and baked to golden perfection. A creative twist on traditional apple pie, these rolls offer a light, easy-to-make dessert with a satisfying crunch and warm apple filling.

Ingredients

Filling

  • 4-6 Apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/3 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon

Wrapper

  • Part of a Package of Rice Paper

For Baking

  • 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 450°F (232°C) to prepare for baking the rolls.
  2. Prepare the apple filling: Peel and slice the apples, then mix them thoroughly with brown sugar and cinnamon to create a sweet and flavorful filling.
  3. Soften the rice paper: Fill a large mixing bowl about one-quarter full with water. Dip one sheet of rice paper into the water briefly, just until it softens enough to handle without becoming soggy.
  4. Assemble the rolls: Lay the softened rice paper on a clean counter and place 1 to 2 tablespoons of the apple mixture in the center. Fold the bottom edge over the filling first, then fold in the sides, and finally fold down the top to seal the roll tightly.
  5. Repeat with remaining filling: Continue soaking and filling rice paper sheets until all the apple mixture is used up, making a batch of rolls.
  6. Prepare for baking: Place the assembled rolls on a parchment paper-lined or well-oiled baking pan. Brush both sides of each roll lightly with cooking oil to ensure crispness and golden color during baking.
  7. Bake the rolls: Put the pan in the preheated oven and bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes, turning them occasionally to achieve an even crisp and golden texture on all sides.

Notes

  • Do not soak the rice paper too long; it should retain slight stiffness to prevent tearing and sogginess.
  • Consider using a wet paper towel to soften the rice paper instead of water for better control.
  • If holes form in the rice paper, the sugary filling might leak out and burn on the pan, so handle gently.
  • Turning the rolls during baking helps to crisp all sides evenly and prevents burning.
