This refreshing Hibiscus Tea Spritzer is a delightful non-alcoholic mocktail featuring the tart and floral flavors of hibiscus tea combined with sparkling water and fresh lime juice. Perfect for a warm day or any occasion where you want a light, bubbly, and naturally fruity beverage with a touch of sweetness.

Ingredients

Hibiscus Tea Base

  • 2 teaspoons hibiscus loose leaf or 1 hibiscus tea bag
  • ¼ cup freshly boiled water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar, plus extra for sugared rim

Spritzer

  • ½ cup sparkling water
  • Juice of half a lime
  • Ice cubes as needed

Garnish

  • Lime wedge for garnish and sugared rim

Instructions

  1. Steep the Hibiscus Tea: Place the hibiscus loose leaves or tea bag into a cup and pour freshly boiled water over it. Cover and let steep for 7 minutes to extract a rich, vibrant flavor.
  2. Sweeten and Chill the Tea: Remove the tea leaves or bag, discard them, then add 1 tablespoon sugar to the hot tea and stir until completely dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for about 1 hour until thoroughly chilled.
  3. Prepare the Glass Rim: Rub a lime wedge around the rim of a serving glass to moisten it, then invert the glass into granulated sugar to create a sugared rim that adds a sweet, decorative touch.
  4. Assemble the Spritzer: Fill the sugared glass with ice cubes, pour in the chilled hibiscus tea, then top with sparkling water. Squeeze the juice of half a lime into the drink and stir gently to combine all flavors.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Add a fresh lime wedge on the rim of the glass for garnish. Serve immediately and enjoy the refreshing, tangy spritzer.

Notes

  • For a less sweet version, reduce the sugar to ½ tablespoon or adjust according to taste.
  • Use sparkling water chilled beforehand for the best fizz and refreshment.
  • You can prepare the hibiscus tea base in advance and keep it refrigerated for up to 24 hours.
  • For a bit of extra flavor, add a few fresh mint leaves at the end.
  • If using loose leaf hibiscus, strain well to avoid any bits in the drink.
